About this educational foreclosure site
Please read this first. Houston Foreclosure Help is an educational website. We are not a law firm, not a HUD-approved housing counseling agency, and not a licensed real estate brokerage. We do not provide legal representation.
Houston Foreclosure Help exists so a Houston-area homeowner can read, in one place, how Texas foreclosure actually works, what the notices mean, and who to call for free help.
What this site is
A small, local resource. The pages are written for people who just got a letter they do not want to open. The core guides cover the Texas process, missed-payment timelines, how to avoid a posting, what options still exist after default, and the HUD counselors and legal-aid offices that do the real work. Topic pages cover the notice of sale, short sale, tax sale, HOA, and rescue scams. Sale-location pages cover 13 Houston-area counties, from Harris through Matagorda — including Walker (Huntsville) and Austin County (Bellville), which are not Waller and not the City of Austin.
What this site is not
- Not a law firm. We do not represent you in court or with your servicer.
- Not a HUD-approved counseling agency. Those agencies are listed on the who to contact page.
- Not a real estate brokerage and not a buyer. This site does not list homes, take offers, or negotiate with lenders.
- Not a shortcut around a first-Tuesday sale. Only your servicer, a complete application, a closing, or a legal filing can change that date.
Who is behind it
The site is operated from Houston as an educational project. A Houston editor maintains the guides from the Texas Property Code, CFPB servicing rules, HUD counselor lists, county clerk designations, and dated public reports (ATTOM). We do not invent a named counselor, attorney, or “in-house expert.” The people who do that work are listed with phone numbers on Who to call.
Houston Foreclosure Help does not buy houses, list property, or act as your agent — on this site, ever.
How to get help
This site does not take messages or cases. If you are behind on a mortgage, call a HUD-approved counselor or legal aid. Numbers are on Who to call. If a sale is days away, call them the same day.
