Which county is my Houston-area house in?

This is an educational site. We are not a law firm, not a HUD counselor, and not an appraisal district. The county named on your notice is the county that will call the sale — not the city on your mail, not this table. This page is not legal advice.

Checked September 4, 2026. Educational only — not legal advice.

Houston-area cities cross county lines. Katy can be Harris, Fort Bend, or Waller. Pearland can be Brazoria, Harris, or Fort Bend. The Woodlands is mostly Montgomery. Use this list to open the right sale-location page, then copy the street off the notice.

Walker County (Huntsville) is not Waller County (Hempstead). Austin County (Bellville) is not the City of Austin. Brenham / Blue Bell is Washington County — not on this site.

If a sale is posted

Skip the table. Open the notice, write the county and the street, and call the numbers on Who to call. Map of all 13 counties: sale locations.

Not on this site

Brenham and Blue Bell Creameries are Washington County. The City of Austin is Travis / Williamson — not Austin County. If the notice names a county we do not cover, use the street on the paper and a HUD counselor; do not guess from this list.

Frequently asked questions

My mail says Houston. Is the sale at Knight Road?

Only if the notice says Harris County. A Houston mailing address can sit in Fort Bend or Montgomery. Harris sales are usually at Bayou City Event Center, 9401 Knight Road — not the 1910 courthouse downtown.

Can I look the county up another way?

The notice, the deed of trust, and the appraisal district account are the records that matter. This table is a courtesy so you open the right directions page.

Checked September 4, 2026. Sale day: Texas Property Code §51.002. City/county lines are a routing aid, not a substitute for the notice.
