Galveston County Foreclosure Sale

Please read this first. Educational site only. Not a law firm, not a HUD counselor, not a servicer. Confirm the place of sale on your notice.

Updated September 2026. Educational only — not legal advice.

Galveston County (Galveston, League City, Texas City, Dickinson, Friendswood’s Galveston side, and nearby) uses the same first-Tuesday calendar as the rest of Texas. Mortgage trustee sales and tax sales are not always in the same place.

Where Galveston mortgage trustee sales are called

Many notices set the sale in the first-floor lobby of the Galveston County Courthouse, 722 Moody (21st Street), Galveston, TX 77550, or “the area designated by Commissioners Court.” Times on the notice (often 10 a.m. or 1 p.m., within a three-hour window) control. Trust the paper you were mailed.

Tax sales are often online

Galveston County has moved many delinquent tax sales to an online sheriff platform (RealAuction / related county pages). Execution sales may still be in person at the courthouse. Do not assume the bank’s trustee sale is online because the tax sale is. See tax sale vs. mortgage foreclosure.

The calendar

First Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If that Tuesday is January 1 or July 4, the sale is the first Wednesday. Twenty-one-day notice of trustee sale: how the notice works.
