Walker County (Huntsville, New Waverly, Riverside) is north of Montgomery County on I-45. It is not Waller County (Hempstead, US 290). Mortgage trustee sales are the first Tuesday.
Where Walker mortgage sales are called
The county clerk states the designated site as the east side of the Walker County Courthouse (inside or on the stairs), 1100 University Avenue, Huntsville. Notices often say the east entrance and adjacent area, second floor. The clerk files notices and does not conduct the auction.
Some tax sales have been called at the Walker County Storm Shelter, 455 State Highway 75 N. That is a different case from the bank’s deed-of-trust sale. See tax sale vs. mortgage foreclosure.
How to get there
Huntsville, I-45 north of Conroe. The landmark everyone uses is the 67-foot Sam Houston statue by the highway. Wave at Sam, then go into town. The sale is at the courthouse on University Avenue, next to Sam Houston State — not at the statue, not at the prison museum, and not in Hempstead.
If your GPS said Waller County Courthouse, you asked for the wrong Walker. University Avenue is downtown Huntsville. East side of the building; second floor / stairs as the notice describes.
The calendar
First Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If that Tuesday is January 1 or July 4, the sale is the first Wednesday. Dates: 2026 first Tuesdays (next is November 3).
What to do today
- Copy date, time, and “1100 University” (or whatever the notice says).
- Call the trustee and loss mitigation.
- Call a HUD counselor: Who to call, HOPE 1-888-995-HOPE.

Is this Waller County?
No. Waller is Hempstead on 290. Walker is Huntsville on I-45. Clerks mix them up on the phone if you mumble. Spell it.
The tax sale was at the storm shelter. Do I go there for the bank sale?
Only if the mortgage notice says so. Many trustee sales stay at 1100 University. Tax sales can use 455 SH 75 N. Different files.
