Please read this first. Houston Foreclosure Help is an educational website. We are not a law firm, not a HUD counselor, and not a mortgage servicer. Confirm the place of sale on your notice. This page is not legal advice.
Updated September 2026. Educational only — not legal advice.
If the property is in Fort Bend County (Sugar Land, Missouri City, Rosenberg, Richmond, Fulshear, much of Katy and Pearland’s Fort Bend side), mortgage trustee sales are the first Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where Fort Bend sales are called
As of the county’s December 2, 2025 designation, many sales are at Gus George Law Enforcement Academy — Patton Hall, 1521 Eugene Heimann Circle, Richmond, TX 77469.
Older notices may name the courthouse in Richmond. Read the notice. The clerk publishes courtesy PDF lists; the clerk does not conduct the sale and cannot give legal advice. Official page: Fort Bend County Clerk — search for foreclosures.
Tax sales vs. mortgage sales
Tax and constable sales can share the same Tuesday and even the same building. They are a different case from the bank’s deed-of-trust sale. Catching up one does not automatically stop the other. See tax sale vs. mortgage foreclosure.
The calendar
First Tuesday each month. If that Tuesday is January 1 or July 4, Texas law moves the public sale to the first Wednesday (HB 1128 / Property Code §51.002). The 21-day notice of sale still applies. Timeline: missed payments.
What to do today
- Copy the sale date and the street address off the notice.
- Call the trustee and the servicer’s loss-mitigation department.
- Call a HUD-approved counselor the same day — Who to call. Houston agencies (Avenue CDC, Tejano Center, Fifth Ward CRC) and the HOPE hotline (1-888-995-HOPE) take Fort Bend homeowners. HUD’s locator: 1-800-569-4287.
- Lone Star Legal Aid covers much of this region if you were served with papers.
This site does not take cases and does not buy houses.
Frequently asked questions
I live in Katy. Is that Fort Bend or Harris?
Katy straddles counties. The county named on the deed of trust / sale notice is the one that will call the sale.
Does the clerk stop the sale if I call?
No. The clerk records and posts notices. Only the servicer, a complete loss-mitigation file, a closing, a court order, or a bankruptcy filing can change a posted date.
Other counties: Harris · Montgomery · Brazoria · Galveston · Waller
