Matagorda County (Bay City, Palacios, Matagorda, Sargent, Markham, Van Vleck) holds mortgage trustee sales on the first Tuesday. The sale is in Bay City, not on the beach at Matagorda Island.
Where Matagorda mortgage sales are called
Notices typically send you to the area designated by Commissioners Court at the Matagorda County Courthouse, 1700 7th Street, Bay City, TX 77414. Copy the exact wording off your notice — some papers only say “the designated place.”

How to get there
Bay City, inland. From Houston: US 59 south to TX-60, or 288 south toward Angleton then across to 35 / 60. 1700 7th Street is the courthouse in town. Palacios and Sargent are this county; do not drive to the jetty unless the notice names a different place (it almost never does for a mortgage trustee sale).
First Tuesday in August heat is miserable. Water, shade, the paper in your hand. The Gulf is a reward after you have dealt with the trustee, not a substitute for reading the notice.
The calendar
First Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If that Tuesday is January 1 or July 4, the sale is the first Wednesday. Dates: 2026 first Tuesdays (next is November 3).

- Copy date, time, and “1700 7th Street” (or whatever the notice says).
- Call the trustee and loss mitigation.

No. County seat is Bay City. Matagorda the town and the island are in this county; the designated courthouse is 1700 7th Street unless your notice says otherwise.

Usually not. Copy the place line. Online tax auctions do not move a deed-of-trust sale off the courthouse by themselves.
